𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘥, 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬

I’m beginning a weekly practice of noticing and sharing fragments of my life. A way to slow down, cultivate gratitude, and find joy in the ordinary moments that make life meaningful as I lean back into living after breast cancer and complicated grief.

In doing so, I hope to begin answering a question I keep coming back to: What comes next?

1. Morning light in the kitchen window.

2. Evening glow on the mantel.

3. Rabbit therapy, to heal my nervous system.

4. A found quilt from 1998 with a label - Helen Stevenson; Fairborn, Ohio; charm quilt, 642 fabrics. She is gone but her beautiful work remains and I love that I could bring it home, spread it out, and see what she made.

5. The bees are still busy enjoying my beautiful cosmos. I love the way the afternoon light comes through the petals.

6. I finally dug up my beets and used my mom’s recipe to can them. I missed her so much this week.

7. An unexpected surprise! We discovered an unknown nest of five tiny box turtle hatchlings in the turtle garden. My son says that according to Google, box turtles hatching here is statistically impossible. I guess that means they’re a miracle.

Noticing a small place to pause this evening after a busy day of resetting after a trip.

In The Pollinator Garden 🐝

I started this piece as a submission for the Cherrywood Storytime Challenge but it became something more.

It brought me back to a favorite childhood book, into my own garden, and into a season of faith and healing.

It’s now part of the traveling Storytime collection - something that I never expected and I can’t wait to see where it goes!
